What is FUE?
Follicular Unit Extraction/ Excision, is the most popular way to perform hair restoration now.
This technique requires a punch of less than 1 mm to cut a follicle, and then these follicles will be transplanted to the required area.
It is a simple as that.
There are various ways to extract follicles, from manual punch, motorized, suction based systems eg. Neograft, Smartgraft, to robotic assisted ARTAS.
Then there is various ways to implant these follicles eg. stick and place, implanters, blunt implanters, from various companies.
The recovery of the patient from FUE, is much quicker than a strip type (FUT) hair transplant.

FUE requires significant more time, skill, and does not leave a long linear scar at the donor area. Rather, tiny dots, that is imperceptable if the doctor spreads these extractions out correctly.

Dr Young focuses purely on FUE.

Hairlines significantly affect a person's appearance, self-esteem, and overall image.

Here are some reasons why hairlines are essential:
  1. Facial symmetry and balance: The hairline frames the face and contributes to a well-defined and natural-looking hairline, enhancing a person's overall attractiveness and creating a more harmonious appearance.
(Dr Jae Hyun Park has written a paper on female facial proportions and hair restoration.)
2. Youthfulness: An entire and healthy hairline is often associated with youthfulness. As people age and experience hair loss, a receding or thinning hairline can make them appear older than their actual age. Maintaining a youthful hairline can help individuals feel more confident and optimistic about their appearance.
3. Self-esteem and confidence: Hair loss or an uneven hairline can negatively impact self-esteem and confidence. A complete and well-defined hairline can make individuals feel more attractive, boosting their self-confidence and improving their social interactions.
4. Hair styling options: A well-structured hairline allows for more versatile hair styling options. Whether pulling the hair back into a ponytail, trying different hairstyles, or experimenting with other cuts, a good hairline provides more flexibility in personal grooming and expression.
5. Cultural and social significance: In many cultures, hair is considered a symbol of beauty, strength, and identity.

Hairlines, especially in the context of facial hair, can carry cultural or religious significance, reflecting a person's beliefs and practices.

  1. First impressions: When meeting someone for the first time, appearance plays a crucial role in forming initial impressions. A person's hairline is one of the first things that others notice, and a well-maintained hairline can leave a positive impression on others.
  2. Psychological impact: Hair loss can lead to emotional distress, anxiety, and even depression in some individuals. On the other hand, a healthy hairline can have a positive psychological impact, contributing to a more positive mindset and outlook on life.
  3. Identity and self-expression: For many people, their hairstyle, including the hairline, is a form of self-expression and identity. It can reflect their personality, cultural background, and sense of style.

With a complete consultation with Dr. Young, the doctor and the patient can agree on the optimal design for hair restoration.

In addition, during the implant stage of all hairlines, Dr. Young and his team will do a "Hairline-Check" in collaboration with the patient; here is another step to allow fine-tuning and achieving a mutually acceptable final hairline.

How Young Hair Restoration makes a Natural Hairline
Though creativity cannot be taught, it can certainly be nurtured.

He uses the finest follicles and then layers them precisely to give macro and micro curves. The connection of the hairline laterally at the temples also needs to be not rounded, and this junction is critical.

This specific layering is a technique Dr. Young has pioneered.
These are just some of the steps used by Dr Young to make sure your hairline is as natural nd realist as possible.
